FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: How do I store these to make them last a long time?

Answer: The longest term storage will come from freezing the seeds right in the container they come to you in. They will last for a few decades that way. Some of the seeds won't store for long term no matter how they're stored...corn is one of them so it's always a good idea to buy corn every year or two and store them away with your other seeds.

Question: What is the maximum shelf life of these seeds and how to properly store them to achieve it?

Answer: the shelf life of a survival seed vault can vary depending on storage habits but the main thing to keep in mind is that seeds are living organisms. The main enemies of seeds are heat, light and moisture. If you can keep them away from those 3 they'll last a long time. Our packaging takes care of the light and moisture...you won't have a problem with those so it's just the heat you have to think about.
Storing the seeds in the coolest area you can, below 65 degrees will keep them for several years, probably 5 or more. Refrigerating them will boost that life to 10 years or more. Freezing these heriloom, nonGMO seeds will be the way to keep them for the very longest time. We dry the seeds to under 8% moisture content so freezing won't split the seeds open. Then, once they're frozen you can expect 20 years or more. Each seed has it's on life expectancy. Corn won't store well so we recommend that you buy corn every year or two and keep it in a cool dry place. Or you can grow your corn and save some of the seeds from your strongest plants for future gardens
